just got back from marfa

spent a couple of days in marfa. my in-laws have a little adobe house there located right off the town square. i like towns that are somewhat paradoxical. new york is so big that it can't support big retail outlets like walmart...in the metrapolis or metrapoli, mom and pops stores thrive.

marfa's paradox is different. it is a combination, a tight-rope walk of the present and the past. it is book stores and art galleries. it is the chinati foundation...sculptures and fashion. prada and socialites. but it is a hardware store where purchases are still filled out on a chit sheet. it is backyards with chickens and donkeys.

i found another town to be in love with. and, unlike new york, i have a permanent and free place to stay every time i go.

 i'll post pictures later.

heading down to marfa

Going to head down to Marfa, TX for a few days of R and R. It's been a few years since I was down there, so I'm interested to see how the ever-growing arts community has affected it. I must say, I'm keenly looking forward to dark skies, lots of stars, some cerveza, and some peace.

It's an 11 hour drive, but one I'll gladly make.

oops...

My credit card number had changed...but I forgot to update it with Squarespace...hence, my blog went dark. I've been thinking about this blog. Clearly, I've neglected it for the past few months...a situation that I must and will remedy.

In my defense, I've been fairly busy...but not busy enough to warrant neglect.

 I'll reform, I promise!!

i'm back...

though i haven't posted in a while, this blog does stay on my mind. i've been thinking about what direction to take it, whether i make it more or less political, post more of my writing endeavors, etc. But, in the meantime, i acknowledge that i still need to post, to keep it fresh. the lull is over.

i'm going to NYC next weekend! actually, i'll only get one day in the city, the rest will be spent in hackensack (don't ask). but, it is one day in the city. i'll be accompanied by a friend who's never been lower than midtown, so we're going to explore so-ho, the village, liberty park, etc. then, hopefully back up to chelsea in the evening for some improv.

i've been away from the city for way too long.
